How We Work
Five considered steps, from first conversation to safe return.
We move deliberately. Nothing begins until you understand exactly what we propose, why, and how it can be undone. Here is what to expect at every stage.
- 01
Consultation
Initial guidanceShare a few photographs and the story of your work. You'll receive a personal response with initial impressions, likely options, and an honest sense of whether treatment is needed at all. There is no charge and no obligation.

- 02
Assessment
Condition reportIn the studio, the work is examined with raking light, ultraviolet fluorescence, and magnification — and, where useful, XRF, infrared, and microscopy. Its construction, condition, and any earlier restoration are documented.

- 03
Conservation Plan
Costed proposalYou receive a written proposal setting out exactly what is recommended, why, what it will cost, and how long it will take. Nothing begins until you have read it, asked your questions, and approved it.

- 04
Conservation Work
Staged documentationTreatment proceeds slowly and is recorded at every stage, with progress images shared at key milestones so the transformation is never a surprise.

- 05
Delivery & Guidance
Treatment dossierThe finished work is returned safely with a complete dossier — before, during, and after photography, materials used, and tailored guidance on display, environment, and care.

The Promise Beneath Every Step
“We never begin treatment you have not seen, understood, and approved — and we never make a change that a future conservator cannot undo.”
Smriti Rajput · Founder & Senior Art Conservator
Step one
