How We Work

Five considered steps, from first conversation to safe return.

We move deliberately. Nothing begins until you understand exactly what we propose, why, and how it can be undone. Here is what to expect at every stage.

  1. 01

    Consultation

    Initial guidance

Share a few photographs and the story of your work. You'll receive a personal response with initial impressions, likely options, and an honest sense of whether treatment is needed at all. There is no charge and no obligation.

  2. 02

    Assessment

    Condition report

In the studio, the work is examined with raking light, ultraviolet fluorescence, and magnification — and, where useful, XRF, infrared, and microscopy. Its construction, condition, and any earlier restoration are documented.

  3. 03

    Conservation Plan

    Costed proposal

You receive a written proposal setting out exactly what is recommended, why, what it will cost, and how long it will take. Nothing begins until you have read it, asked your questions, and approved it.

  4. 04

    Conservation Work

    Staged documentation

Treatment proceeds slowly and is recorded at every stage, with progress images shared at key milestones so the transformation is never a surprise.

  5. 05

    Delivery & Guidance

    Treatment dossier

The finished work is returned safely with a complete dossier — before, during, and after photography, materials used, and tailored guidance on display, environment, and care.

The Promise Beneath Every Step

“We never begin treatment you have not seen, understood, and approved — and we never make a change that a future conservator cannot undo.”

Smriti Rajput · Founder & Senior Art Conservator

Step one

It begins with a conversation.

There's no charge for an initial consultation, and no obligation to proceed. Send a photograph and let's begin.
